Click to Edit: Change Your App by Tapping Its Preview
Tap the button you mean in your app's preview, then say what to change. Some small things, like a line of text or a picture's size, you can change yourself without credits. We also checked how Lovable, Bolt, Rocket.new and others do the same thing, and where they're ahead of us.

Click to Edit is a switch above your app's preview in AppCub. Turn it on, tap the button or heading you mean, and tell AppCub what to change. We built it because describing a button in words gets messy the day your screen has two that look alike.
Say you run a salon in Indore and your salon app has been out for a week. It's 11 at night, the shop is shut, and you notice the big button on the home screen still says "Book Now". Your customers say "appointment", never "booking". You want it to read "Appointment Lo".
Before Click to Edit, you'd type "change the pink button under the photo". There are two pink buttons on that screen, so AppCub could pick the wrong one, and at 11:15 you'd be explaining again.
Now you switch on Click to Edit, tap that exact button and type "isko 'Appointment Lo' kar do". No description needed.
Two ways to change what you tapped
Point and tell. Tap the part, then type the change in chat, in English or Hinglish. AppCub is told what you tapped and where it sits on the screen, so "isko" means that button and not the other pink one. If it still isn't sure, it asks instead of guessing.
Picking works on most buttons, text, fields and cards. If something won't highlight on its own, pick the card around it. It's a normal chat change, so it uses credits, and the chat shows the usual cost before you send.

Change it yourself. AppCub is set up to put a small marker on some parts of your app as it writes the code. Tap a marked part and an Edit component properties button appears above the preview, under the Click to Edit chip. It opens a short form: change what you want and press Apply & rebuild. No AI runs, and no credits are used.
Say your kirana shop app has a line under the header that reads "Home delivery till 8 pm", and now you deliver till 9. If that line is marked, you fix it in the form and press Apply. AppCub's own buttons and section titles aren't in the form yet, so the salon's "Book Now" stays a chat change.
How Click to Edit works, step by step
- Open your project at appcub.ai in a browser. A laptop is easiest, but Chrome on your phone works too: Preview gets its own tab next to Chat.
- When the live preview shows your app, tap the Click to Edit chip above the phone frame. It changes to Inspecting and the preview dims a little.
- On a laptop, move the pointer over your app. A blue box follows it with a tag like "Button: Book Now" or "Heading: Shree Coaching Classes". Your app ignores taps while you're inspecting, so nothing gets booked by accident.
- Tap the part you want. On a laptop, Alt-click (Option-click on a Mac) picks the bigger box around it, say the whole card instead of the price inside it.
- The chat shows a Targeting chip naming what you picked, like "Targeting: Button: Book Now…". Type the change and send it.
- If Edit component properties shows up above the preview, you can use the form instead.

A direct edit usually takes a couple of minutes. AppCub writes the change into your app's real Flutter code, checks it, rebuilds the preview and saves the result as a new version. If any step fails, it puts your old code back and tells you what happened.
If you don't like the result, Undo this change in the chat takes you back one version. Undo costs nothing.
What you can change yourself, and what goes through chat
On a marked part, the form can change these settings where your app's code uses a plain value. Colours and text styles that come from your app's theme change through chat.
| Marked part | What the form lets you change |
|---|---|
| Lines of text and headings | The words (up to 500 characters). Colour, and font size from 8 to 96, where the code sets them plainly |
| Pictures | Width, height and how the picture fits its space. The picture itself stays |
| Boxes, like a coloured panel behind some text | Width, height, spacing inside and outside (same on all sides), background colour, rounded corners, border width and colour |
| AppCub's buttons and section titles | Not in the form yet; use chat |
Everything else goes through chat, with credits: fonts, icons, moving things, a new section, a different photo, or what a button does.
Mind the tick box at the bottom of the form, "Apply to every instance". A direct edit changes the part where it's defined, so if the same "Shop timings" box shows on five screens, all five change. The box comes ticked; leave it. To make one copy look different, ask in chat.
To see which parts are marked, tap See editable components while inspecting. It lists each one as Direct or Chat, with the reason for the Chat ones.

Do other app builders have click to edit?
Clicking on a preview to change it isn't our idea. Lovable, Bolt, Replit, v0, Rocket.new and Dreamflow all have a version of it. This is what each tool's own docs said on 22 October 2026.
| Builder | Click on the preview | Direct edits without credits | Native Android app |
|---|---|---|---|
| AppCub | Yes, in the browser | Yes, on marked plain parts | Yes, Flutter (APK, plus the Play Store bundle on the trial and plans) |
| Lovable | Yes | 100 text edits, each back after 24 hours; other edits use credits | No, web apps |
| Bolt | Yes | No, saving an edit uses tokens | Yes, through Expo (React Native) |
| Replit | Yes | Yes, for simple edits | Yes, through Expo (React Native) |
| v0 | Yes | — | Web apps (Next.js); native not found |
| Rocket.new | Yes, Flutter apps too (browser, paid plans) | — | Yes, Flutter |
| Dreamflow | Yes | Property panel edits aren't listed as using credits | Yes, Flutter |
A "—" means we couldn't find it in their docs, not that it's missing. Bolt's and Replit's docs don't say whether clicking to edit works on their Expo mobile apps. On cost, our form works like Replit's visual editor: simple edits don't call the AI, so they use no credits. Bolt's help page says preview edits use tokens when you save them, not while you make them. Dreamflow's property panel changes far more settings than our form does.
Where we think AppCub is different:
Prices are in rupees, and you can start small. The trial is ₹99 for two days with 150 credits, and then the plan you picked starts by autopay unless you cancel before day 3. The App Pack is ₹499 once for 200 credits, with no autopay. Starter is ₹1,599 a month. The tools above list US-dollar plans from about $18 to $30 a month, the lowest on yearly billing.
What you tap is your real app. The preview is a web build of the same Flutter code that becomes your APK, so a change there is a change to the app your customers install. Rocket.new and Dreamflow also build Flutter apps; Lovable and v0 start you on web apps.
Hinglish works both ways. Any decent AI can read "isko thoda bada karo". AppCub also answers in Hinglish when you write in Hinglish, and can remember that you do for your next app. To be fair, Lovable's menus come in Hindi.
What it can't do yet
- It isn't in the AppCub Android app. Use appcub.ai in a browser, on a laptop or on your phone.
- Apps made before October 2026, and apps from our salon, clinic and coaching templates, have no markers until a chat change adds them. The AI decides what to mark as it writes, so if you want a line or picture in the form, ask in chat.
- Uneven spacing and text the app fills in for each customer, like the name in "Hello, Ravi", need chat too.
- You can't start a direct edit while AppCub is busy with another change.
- Your phone app doesn't update by itself. When the preview looks right, make a new Android build.
- Direct edits count toward a daily fair-use limit, the same one Android builds use.
If you already have an app with us, open it at appcub.ai, wait for the preview and tap Click to Edit. Try one button label to start.
No app yet: describe your business in the chat. You'll see the full plan for your app before you take the ₹99 trial or the one-time ₹499 App Pack, and the rest of the prices are on the pricing page. Our guide to making an Android app without coding goes from your opening message to the Play Store.
Questions
Does Click to Edit cost credits?
A request through chat uses credits, and you see the typical cost before sending it. A form edit on a marked part uses none, though there's a daily cap on how many you can make.
Why can't I change some parts in the form?
The form appears on parts AppCub marked while writing your app, and it changes settings the code holds as plain values, like a line's words or a picture's size. AppCub's buttons, section titles and theme colours change through chat, marked or not.
Do I need a new APK after an edit?
Yes. Edits change the preview, but the copy on people's phones and on Google Play stays as it was until you build a fresh APK or Play Store bundle and update it.
Does Click to Edit work on my phone?
Yes. Open your project on appcub.ai in Chrome or any phone browser and switch to the Preview tab to pick what to change. The installed AppCub app for Android doesn't include it for now.
